24th ANNUAL MULTIPLE PIANO FESTIVAL
November 21st, 2009 at 7:00pm
Vance Brand Auditorium
Registration due October 14
If you have not entered students in MPF before, this is a very exciting event for everyone and we
are sure you, your students and your students families will find this to be an awesome experience.
10-12 grand pianos are on stage with as many as 24 students playing a piece in unison led by a conductor. WOW!
Students may try out for any or all pieces within a level, but may not audition in more than one level.
Ideally, you will have 2 students in your studio who can play together, but if you are missing a partner,
a list will be compiled of students from various teachers that need a partner for Primo or Secondo for each piece.
Adult students (and sometimes C groupin a pinch) may play with their teacher as a partner, but students A1-B2
should play with other students. They may audition alone (or with a parent), but pairs of students will be given
preference. All auditions are performed on 2 side-by-side pianos with 2 students at each piano and the conductor
directing the piece.
Students should be prepared to play their pieces with the metronome (see the enclosed Repertoire list for the tempo
markings) and should also know their music well enough that they can keep an eye on the conductor. This is especially
important at the beginning of the piece and at cadences or changes of tempo. Every attempt will be made to include as
many students as possible, but if there are too many students for a specific piece, your student might not be able to
play all of the pieces they auditioneven if they are very good.

ACHIEVEMENT DAY
Saturday May 8, 2010, 9:00am to 4:30pm
Imig Music Building, CU, Boulder
Registration is due April 10
This event enables the students to present two pieces (one by memory, and one with
music), and work on at least two options. Upon completion, students receive comments
from judges on their performance, a certificate, and a ribbon for participation.
The students can choose to become super-achiever candidates. To do so, students
must choose five options, and one of them has to be a written test. Those who
performed at a proficient level in all and score 80% or higher in the written test receive
super-achiever medals.
There are 22 options to choose from: scales, chords, arpeggios, theory, terms&signs,
history, ear training, performance on a second instrument, improvisation, transposition,
duet or accompanying, conducting, composing, art, dance, etc.
There are preparatory level through level 12. The teachers place students at
appropriate levels.
Students may request their desired performance time when registering.
Students of an instrument other than piano are welcome to participate. Assignments
can be adjusted to those students (For example, theory tests can be adjusted to have
treble clef only for those who plays violin, flute, etc.)

BAMTA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Registration is due June 1
BAMTA is pleased to announce that scholarships of four hundred dollars will be available to
students this year. Multiple Piano Festival is the source of our scholarship funds. The scholarship
money will be paid directly to each students teacher and applied toward tuition for the fall semester of 2010.
Scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate both musical ability and financial need, although
financial need will be the primary determining factor. A committee of teachers will review scholarship applications
and recorded performances. Teachers will be notified in June of the application results.
Applications consist of a financial statement submitted by students parents, a tape, CD or DVD of the student performing
3 solo repertoire pieces, and a letter of recommendation from the teacher.
