| I make learning music fun and enjoyable. Students interests come first in order to keep their enthusiasm for playing and practicing. As they gain confidence and experience, they also gain interest in a wide variety of styles. Technique (using fingers, hands and arms in a relaxed and efficient manner) and theory (how music is written and formed) are integrated into all that we do. They are made palatable by avoiding teaching these areas apart from their relation to whatever music we are playing. We also do alot of creating: most students enjoy making up their own music. And we learn to play by ear as well as to read music. Besides immensely enjoying what I do, I am highly qualified. I have been teaching for over twenty years and have a Masters Degree in piano performance and composition from CU Boulder. I have enjoyed considerable success as a pianist and composer in NYC, where I lived and worked for the past fourteen years. My new choral work, Anna's Poems, is being premiered by the Boulder Chorale in May, and a new song cycle set to the poetry of Boulder poet Eleanor De Woskin, is being premiered at the Nicholas Roerich Museum in Manhattan in the spring. Come and join the fun and excitement in my studio in Louisville! |

| I have been a voice teacher, vocal coach and music educator since 1990. I come to lessons with both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Vocal Performance, and eleven years experience teaching private voice and directing opera and music theater at the college level. I have been teaching voice and elementary music in Boulder-area music schools since 2001 and am able to easily adapt my teaching style to accommodate all ages and skill levels. I have enjoyed extensive performance experience in Music Theater, Opera, Torch Song, Jazz, Irish Folk, and have even sung in a variety of rock and funk bands! I love to teach singing. I get really excited when a student has a breakthrough, hears the beauty in their own voice, discovers what it feels like to sing freely with a well supported tone, or soars up to the high notes easily and likes what they hear. Please call, or visit my website for more information. I look forward to hearing from you! |

| My goal is to teach in a way that the student enjoys and learns to love music. I teach many different ways for a student to learn how to “sight read” music easily, so that the end goal is for students to learn music on their own and feel comfortable doing so. Some of the ways I work with students, are to have the student pick out some of their music that they would love to learn like jazz, Celtic, Broadway shows, favorites, hymns, or contemporary music that they might be listening to on their IPOD. I also include drumming in the lesson to help make learning rhythms easier, and we have fun learning to improvise to different moods and familiar sounds, while learning ways to use different theory and musical techniques in each improvised song. I have students that are now in their 20’s and 30’s that still call me, thankful that they learned with a positive approach that they can now use in their adult life for pleasure.rnD.M.A. Piano Performance and M.M. | As piano teacher, my emphases are to develop a rich, focused tone quality and to explore expressive touch and gesture that can bring a piece of music to imaginative life. The repertory is 17th-21st centuries and usually "classical." My most recent book is Deepening Musical Performance through Movement (Indiana University Press, also in paperback, spring, 2010). I co-authored two earlier books on balanced movement: Expressive Movement (Da Capo Press) and Generous Movement (Center of Balance Press). My Ph.D. is from Brandeis University; M.A. from Harvard; M. Mus. from the New England Conservatory; B. Mus. from the University of Michigan. I have taught musicianship-through- movement to singers and to performers of most instruments, and have led workshops at schools and universities in the U.S., Canada, and the UK. |

| I am a certified Suzuki Piano Teacher. I continue to train in both the Suzuki Piano levels and creative ways to teach Music Theory, to offer a well rounded music eduction for your children.
I grew up playing the piano and studied through college. Piano was my first love. I went on to get my Masters in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory, and to sing professionally.
In my teaching, my focus is on the whole child. I want piano lessons to be a means for your child to build life skills and confidence in themselves, as well as becoming a good musician. Suzuki said that it is our job as teachers to nurture fine and noble human beings. It is less about getting to Carnegie Hall or becoming a professional musician, and more about building your child’s sense of self, and giving them the JOY of learning to express themselves through music. Ah, what a gift! |

| Teaching music is my passion! I play and teach piano, clarinet, and guitar from my comfortable home studio in southeast Boulder. I love teaching all ages. My style is to teach from a couple of methods books as a base to teach reading from the staff. Then, I supplement with fun materials and activities, depending on the student's interests. I have worked with students on composing, playing by ear, ensemble playing, sight reading, transposition, singing and playing, playing in different styles, and improvising. I also throw in some games, singing, movement, and fun drumming. I have taught general music in BVSD elementary schools for years, so I excellent with young students, especially the squirmy ones! If you want to love music and have fun, please contact me! |

I enjoy working with all levels, beginners through advanced students, and all ages, including adults. I have regular acoustic pianos and a Technics PR700 digital piano in my home. In addition, I have a computer lab for self-instructed study of music theory, ear training, composer’s lives, history and other general music topics.
EDUCATION & TRAINING: As the daughter of a piano teacher, I have been playing the piano and other instruments, and have been around piano instruction all my life. | Music has always played an important role in Michele’s life providing a space for self-expression and exploration through voice and piano. Twenty years ago, Michele’s young daughter whom she was home schooling asked to be taught piano and so a new vocation began combining Michele’s ardent love for music with her passion for instruction. Michele recently moved from Minnesota to Longmont, Colorado leaving behind many fond memories of instruction with students ages 4-84. Michele is accepting new students and looks forward to serving the community of Longmont, Colorado.
Michele attended St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin studying voice, piano, elementary and Kodaly music instruction. She has acquired 20 years of piano study, 5 years of voice and over 7 years of ensemble participation. She has completed college theory and history requirements, piano pedagogy and conducting. In 2003, she earned a B.A. in writing from the University of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN and, in 2004, Michele attended a graduate pre-school music program - First Steps in Music - with John Fierabend at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI.
